2024 Public Health Prepared Annual Summit

We invite you to join us for our third annual summit and first convening in person!

Our summit is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM ET. This event is hybrid, with a virtual option for part of the day from 12:30-2:30 PM.

 

It will be held at Palmer Commons, in the Great Lakes Room at the University of Michigan, at 100 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48109.

 

This year’s theme is Reflection and Collaboration: Looking Within and Reaching Out, and we aim to bring together those working around infectious disease and emergency preparedness and response in Michigan, whether in a public health, provider, or research setting.

  • Breakfast & Welcome (9:00 AM ET)
  • Icebreaker and Cross-sector Relationship Building (9:40 AM ET)
  • Discussion-based Session: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in Emergency Preparedness and Response (10:20 AM ET)

Speakers:

Keynote: Anpotowin Jensen, MS, Oglala Lakota Nation, Oceti Sakowin Land

Ms. Jensen will speak from personal and professional experiences about the need for approaches to address complex public health issues that require collaboration and community engagement among Tribal communities. Participants will learn more about Tribal health as a global health issue and systems-level approaches to reduce community health disparities during emergency response.

Registration Information

  • In-person registration is $25. Student registration is free.
  • Virtual registration is free.
  • Registration is open until May 26, 2024, or until in-person registration spots of 70 are full, whichever comes first. No limit for virtual participants.
  • We do not want registration cost to be a barrier to participation. Please be in contact with phprepared@umich.edu if you would like to attend in person but cannot accommodate the registration fee.
  • NOTE: If you are attending in person and are not a student, you will need to proceed to step 2 to complete payment. Please follow the instructions that will appear within the end-of-registration page.
DEI CPE

The in-person session on “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice in Emergency Preparedness and Response” is eligible for DEI CPE credit (1 hour, 40 minutes) for UM SPH participants.
